Welcome to our rescue family! We would love to have you share your talents to help our foster dogs find the loving forever homes they deserve.

Are you comfortable using a computer or social media? Do you enjoy writing and telling meaningful stories? We need volunteers who can help create and share adoption posts, rescue stories, photos, and updates across social media, community groups, and adoption websites.

Your creativity can help our dogs get noticed—and sometimes one great post is all it takes to connect a deserving dog with the perfect family!

Our volunteer Grant Writer helps identify appropriate grant opportunities and prepare compelling applications that support veterinary care, transportation, food, supplies, and other rescue needs. We are looking for someone with grant-writing, nonprofit, fundraising, or professional writing experience who believes in our mission and can help us build sustainable funding.

Our Foster Coordinators support a small group of foster dogs and the wonderful people caring for them. This volunteer role involves staying in regular contact with foster families, checking on the dogs’ needs, and helping order food, supplies, and other necessary items.

A very important part of this position is helping each dog find a forever home. Foster Coordinators assist with arranging adoption events, promoting the dogs, and ordering special items—such as “Adopt Me” gear, bandanas, or promotional materials—that can help the dogs get noticed.

You will only coordinate a few dogs at a time, and our rescue team will be available to support you along the way. This is a rewarding opportunity to build relationships with our fosters and play an important role in helping rescue dogs find loving homes.

Our volunteer transporters play a very important role in helping our rescue dogs safely reach the next step in their journey. Transport may include picking up a dog from a shelter, taking a dog to a foster home, veterinary appointment, adoption event, or meeting with a potential adopter.

Safety is always our highest priority. Dogs must be transported using the proper equipment, which may include a secure crate, leash, and correctly fitted martingale collar. Transporters must carefully follow all rescue safety instructions and make sure each dog remains secure throughout the entire trip.

Many of our dogs are coming directly from crowded, high-kill shelters and may be frightened, overwhelmed, or unsure of their new surroundings. We need gentle, patient animal lovers who understand the importance of a calm introduction to a foster or adoptive home.

Because transporters often represent our rescue when meeting fosters, adopters, veterinary staff, and shelter employees, kindness, reliability, good communication, and professionalism are also very important. Your safe and compassionate care can make a dog’s transition into rescue a positive and comforting experience.

Our volunteer dog sitters provide temporary care for rescue dogs when their foster families need help for a few hours, a day, or occasionally overnight. This support allows our fosters to attend appointments, travel, or handle other responsibilities while knowing their foster dog is safe and well cared for.

Dog sitters must be dependable, patient, and comfortable following the rescue’s safety instructions. Responsibilities may include feeding, walking, administering approved medications, providing companionship, and keeping the dog secure with the proper leash, martingale collar, crate, or other equipment provided by the rescue.

Many rescue dogs are still adjusting to life outside the shelter, so they may need extra patience, gentle handling, and a calm environment. Good communication with the foster family and rescue team is also very important.

By giving a foster family a much-needed break, you help them continue fostering—and that allows our rescue to save even more dogs.

Our volunteer dog trainers help rescue dogs build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in foster and adoptive homes. Many of our dogs come from stressful shelter environments and may need help learning basic manners, leash walking, crate training, socialization, or how to feel safe in a home.

Trainers may work directly with a dog, guide foster families through training techniques, help identify behavioral needs, and provide practical recommendations that support the dog’s progress. You may also assist adopters with introductions, routines, and a smooth transition into their new home.

We are looking for patient, dependable trainers who use gentle, humane, positive reinforcement-based methods. Clear communication, compassion, and an understanding of rescue dogs are essential.

Your guidance can help a dog become more confident, adoptable, and prepared for a successful life with their forever family.

Our Adoption Event Coordinators help organize and oversee local adoption events, including events held at participating PetSmart locations. These events give our foster dogs an important opportunity to meet potential adopters and find their forever homes.

Responsibilities may include coordinating with foster families and volunteers, confirming which dogs will attend, organizing needed supplies, helping arrange transportation when necessary, and making sure the event runs smoothly.

We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, friendly, and comfortable communicating with volunteers, fosters, store staff, and the public. A professional and welcoming attitude is important, as you will be helping represent our rescue in the community.
